Kanger Valley National Park - Bastar

Located on the banks of Kholaba River in Chhattisgarh, at a distance of about 27 km from Jagdalpur, Kanger Valley National Park is one of the most beautiful and picturesque national parks of India spread over an area of approximately 200 sq km. Known for its scenic beauty and the unique and rich biodiversity, the Kanger Valley is the only region in the Peninsular India covered with dense forests of Sal, Teak and Bamboo trees.


Some of the major Wildlife attraction of the Kanger Valley National Park in Bastar district are Tigers, Leopards, Mouse Deer, Wild Cat, Chital, Sambar, Barking Deer, Jackals, Langurs, Rhesus Macaque, Sloth Bear, Flying Squirrel, Wild Boar, Striped Hyena, Rabbits, Pythons, Cobra, Crocodiles, Monitor Lizards and Snakes. Hill Myna, Spotted Owlet, Red Jungle Fowls, Racket-tailed Drongos, Peacocks, Parrots, Steppe Eagles, Red Spur Fall, Phakta, Bhura Teeter, Tree Pie and Heron and many others can be seen in avian fauna at park. There are many tourist attractions inside the park such as tthe Kutamsar Caves, Kailash Caves, Dandak Caves, Tiratgarh Waterfalls, and the picnic resorts- Kanger Dhara and Bhaimsa Dhara (a Crocodile Park). The Park is an ideal destination for wildlife tourists, nature lovers, researchers, and anthropologists.
