The Fort of St.Jerome - Daman

Fort of St. Jerome or Nani Daman Fort is situated in Nani Daman on the north side of the Damanganga River. Spread over an area of 12,250 sq.mt, the fort of St. Jerome was built in 1627. Named after St.Jerome, one of the most eminent fathers of the Catholic Church, the fort has three bastions and two gateways. The giant gateway facing the river has a large statue of St Jerome and two big human figures, on either side of the gateway. The principal building inside the fort is the imposing church of Our Lady of the Sea, one of the ancient seats of the office with a fine altar.
