About Gangasagar

Gangasagar is a popular pilgrimage center that is known among tourists as the place where the estuary of River Ganga meets Bay of Bengal. Gangasagar is a charming island in the Sunderbans region of West Bengal. The pristine sandy beach of Gangasagar is very picturesque that provides a heavenly experience to visitors.

Gangasagar is still unexplored and less crowded, which makes it perfect for travelers looking for a tourist destination away from the busy city life. The region is frequented by large number of pilgrims during Makar Sakranti, who come here to take a holy dip at the confluence during this period. There is also a big fair organized here during Makar Sakranti known as the Gangasagar fair, which is the largest fair organized in the state of West Bengal.

The other important tourist attractions in Gangasagar are the Kapil Muni temple and the lighthouse at the beach. The lighthouse provides a panoramic view of the beach and its picturesque surroundings from its top.
