Gujarat is the westernmost state of India that is rapidly gaining rank among the tourism map of India. The state government of Gujarat has made it their key focus area to develop the state as a travel destination. The state has a never ending list of tourist attractions including heritage monuments, religious attractions, scenic hill stations and picturesque wildlife sanctuaries. One of the most unique travel destination in Gujarat that is being highly marketed by the state government is the Great Rann of Kutch. This destination is known for its wide stretches of white desert, forts and palaces, temples and lakes, and scenic beaches. 

A traveler visiting the state will be welcomed with the famous phrase ‘Aavo Padharo’. In Gujarat ‘Aavo Padharo’ means ‘Welcome Guest’ and is a representative of the ‘Guest is God’ philosophy prevalent in India. The state has lot to offer to tourists like the historical city of Champaner that is popular among tourists for its majestic forts, palaces, mosques and other buildings. The interesting part about this place is that it was once a flourishing city that was later abandoned and is now in ruins. Saputara is the only hill station of Gujarat that is popular among travellers from Gujarat and Maharashtra for its pleasant climate and scenic surroundings. The state is also frequented by lakhs of Hindu pilgrims to visit the holy cities of Dwarka - part of the Char Dham circuit and Somnath - one of the twelve Jyotirlingas. Gujarat is also home to the Gir wildlife sanctuary that has the only Asiatic Lions in country. 

A part of Gujarat is projecting out in Arabian Sea, and the state shares common border with Pakistan in northwest. The state capital is Gandhinagar and its major language is Gujarati. This beautiful state is currently on a speedy path of development and is classified amongst the most developed states of India. Gujarat is one of the most industrialized states of India. The major industries in the sate are textile and petrochemical industries. Gujarat is also home to the major ports of India leading it to become an important trade and commerce centre of India.
