Situated at height of nearly 2500-3000 ft in the southern part of Chhatisgarh, Bastar is a tribal region blessed with exceptional scenic beauty. Bastar is called as the ‘Kashmir of Chhatisgarh’ and is covered by high mountains, valleys, streams, waterfalls, natural caves, and natural parks. The forest of Bastar in Chhattisgarh is full of bamboo, sal, teak, wood, sheesam and bija. The borders of Bastar region is covered with Kanker district in the north, Maharashtra in the west, Dantewada district in the south and Orissa in the east. The District head quarter of Bastar - Jagdalpur is situated approximately at a distance of 303 km from Raipur, the capital of Chhatisgarh state and 313 Km north-west of Vishakhapatnam city.
