About Kovalam
Kovalam, meaning a grove of coconut trees, is a small beach town on the banks of Arabian Sea near the Thiruvananthapuram city in Kerala. Kovalam is also considered as the suburbs of Thiruvananthapuram, located at a distance of 13 km from the central business district. Kovalam, first came to limelight during 1930s and popularized by the Maharaja of Travancore. The beach town of Kovalam came into limelight in the early seventies with mass arrival of hippies. There are three adjacent crescent beaches in Kovalam, with calm waters surrounded by massive rock promontory.
