About Varkala
Varkala is a coastal town located about 50 km north-west of Thiruvananthapuram in South Kerala. One of the unique attractions of Varkala is the tertiary sedimentary formation cliffs that are located adjacent to the Arabian Sea. These cliffs are very interesting geological formation for geologists known as Varkala formation. Varkala is also famous for the 2,000 year old Janardana Swami temple, an important Vaishnavaite shrine in India.
