Brahma Sarovar - Kurukshetra

The Brahma Sarovar is a huge holy water tank in Kurukshetra, famous as a ‘miniature ocean'. It is believed to be the land from where Lord Brahma created the universe. As per Hindu Mythology (Matsya purana and Padma Purana), taking a dip in this sarovar is equal to performing 'Ashvamedh Yajna'. The Brahma Sarover looks amazing on the day of Solar Eclipse, Amavasya and the days of the Gita Jayanti.

Each year in November and December during the celebration of the Gita Jayanti, the Brahma Sarovar attracts large crowds to observe ‘Deep Daan’ and ‘Aarti’. Other cultural events like theatre performances, music recitals and pageants are also admired by the visitors. Many small temples viz. Sarveshwar Mahadev Temple, Birla Gita Mandir, Baba Sharwannath’s Haveli- are situated in its surroundings.
