Tamor Pingla Wildlife Sanctuary - Surguja

At a distance of about 94 km from Ambikapur, located in Surjuga District bordering with Uttar Pradesh, Tamor Pingla Wildlife Sanctuary is spread over an area of 608 sq km. The prominent features of this piece of land are the Tamor Hill and the Pingla Nalla (stream). Moran River draining into Govind Ballabh Pant Sagar in Uttar pradesh passes through the sanctuary. Tourists’ accommodation is available in Ambikapur. The forest consists of a mix of Sal and other deciduous trees. The important species are Terminalia arjuna, Pterocarpus marsupium, Terminalia alata, Shorea robusta, Terminalia chebula, Soymida febrifuga, Terminalia bellerica, Anogeissus latifolia, Diospyros melonoxylon, etc. and the animals are tiger,leopards, Nilgai Chital, Sambar, Sloth Bear, Chinkara, Wildboar, Jungle cat, Fox and a variety of reptiles and birds. Good time to visit the sanctuary is December to March.
