About Vijayawada - Andhra Pradesh Tourism

Vijaywada is a beautiful city located on the banks of River Krishna, bounded by Indrakiladri hills in the West and Budameru River in the North. Travellers will love the natural beauty of the city with Krishna river flowing through the Vijaywada surrounded by hills. Vijaywada has some interesting tourist attractions in and around including Bhavani Island and Gandhi Museum in the city and Undavalli and Mogalarajapuram caves near Vijaywada. Vijaywada also had 3 canals running through the city that originate from Prakasam barrage. These canals make some travellers compare Vijaywada with the Venice city in Europe.

Vijayawada, third largest city in Andhra Pradesh, is located on the bank of Krishna River. Situated on the eastern side of Andhra Pradesh, at a distance of 275 kms from Hyderabad, the city of Vijayawada is a major trade and business center.

Vijayawada also has a legend attached to it, that Arjuna appeased Lord Shiva on the Indrakiladri hills and was bestowed by the 'Pasupathasthra' weapon here. Also, it is believed that Goddess Durga rested here after killing the demon called Mahishasura. The place got its name from this story as Goddess Durga was victorious (Vijay mean victory) here.
